Application Note: Measurement for Extra-Heavy Crude Oil – CDI The Tek-nical Problem: Cluster 21, comprising 12 oil wells, presents a unique challenge. Each well employs progressive cavity pumps to extract extra-heavy crude oil. Due to the viscosity and density of this type of oil, a diluent injection system is necessary to dilute the oil, making it easier to transport through the pipeline. A Fluid Solution! To address this issue, a Tek-Trol Coriolis flow meter, model Tek-Cor 1100A, was installed to ensure stable and accurate measurement of the diluent, even when the physical conditions of the product change.
