Tek-Trol 1700B Tek-Thermal for Wastewater & Aeration Basins!

Thermal Mass Flow Meters are used in wastewater & aeration basins and are critical tools for municipal processes. Up to 60% of the energy used by wastewater treatment plants is from the aeration process. In this vital and costly secondary stage of wastewater treatment, blowers aerate the basins, removing about 85% of the organic matter by making use of the bacteria living within it. Municipalities need precise mass flow measurement instrumentation to bubble the exact amount of air into these aeration basins so the bacteria can flourish. Increased public and private awareness of water quality, availability, and the cost is a driving force behind the demands for better efficiency and economy in these processes. Whether local needs call for new facilities or improvements to existing facilities, Tek-Trol 1700B Tek-Thermal Flow Meters can meet these demands. At the same time, eliminate the undesirable system pressure drops and high maintenance costs associated with differential flow meters and rotary meters. Many municipalities used differential pressure (DP) devices to measure the mass flow rate of air delivered to their aeration basins. Still, these devices proved to be expensive to maintain, clogged easily, measured only volumetric flow, and required a separate pressure and temperature transducer and flow computer to deliver accurate mass flow. Everyday use of Thermal Flow Meters at WWTP facilities means measuring the air (or oxygen) flow required for the secondary treatment of the activated sludge process when air and “seed” sludge are added to the wastewater to facilitate decomposition. To stimulate the […]

Measure Wastewater with Venturi Flow Meters and Industrial Differential Pressure Transmitters

To keep systems working correctly, Municipal wastewater treatment plants and industrial facilities treating wastewater need reliable and accurate flow measurements. Over a century, waste treatment plants have measured wastewater and sewage using Venturi Flow Meters with differential pressure indicators. Why? Because Venturi Flow Meters offers lifespan reliability that is unmatched by any other metering technology on the market. In recent years Magnetic Flow Meters have replaced existing venturi in plants and specifications. The reason is that they offer a lower entry cost and claim to be maintenance-free. While this may be true, it doesn’t tell the whole story. There is no dispute that the purchase price of a Mag Meter is lower than that of a Venturi. Now consider that many of the wastewater treatment plants built in the United States opened in the mid-50s. Those plants have been in operation for over 70 years, where many cast iron venturi meters, which were installed back then, are in working condition even as of today. The second claim of maintenance-free operation are Mag Meter, which are essentially an electronic device. Like your PC, Mag Meters don’t need much maintenance and maybe occasional calibration check. The downside is, like your PC, they only have a lifespan of 5 to 10 years and then replaced. Venturi Meters are physical devices, with no moving parts that create a pressure difference, which is measured by a differential Tek-Trol Tek-Bar 3110B Differential Pressure Transmitter. The transmitter is an electronic device with lower cost and easy replacement, unlike […]

Vegetable Oil Flow Measurement CROWN DAIRY (Cream Production)

CDI currently manufactures a variety of dairy products such as liquid sterilized cream, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk in a variety of types of packaging such as metal cans and Tetrapack aseptic brick packaging. Products of this company sell under the Melody & Donia brands that compete with international brands in the local and foreign markets. The company has now expanded its product range in this sector and has experienced steady growth. Recently, CDI has invested in fresh dairy products such as fresh laban drink, flavored & pasteurized milk, cheese, yogurt & juices all in many types of packaging such as tin can, gable top, and plastic packaging. To increase the production of their sterilized cream, CDI installed (4) mixing tanks. During the process, the powder is manually added to the tank. Finally, vegetable oil is transferred to the mixing tank. CDI needed to accurately measure the oil in the main tank. Tek-Trol provided a perfect solution in the form of our Tek- Cor 1100A Coriolis Flow meter to measure the full mass of the vegetable oil. Tek-Trol was awarded the contract over some of our top competitors in the industry for our detailed quote and summary, cutting-edge technology, accuracy, and competitive pricing. After successfully commissioning the Coriolis, it was then tested for accuracy against a master weighing scale, and the results were found to exceed expectations. In almost any industry, from dairy, water, and sugar to power, oil and gas, Tek-trol Technology Solutions can provide expert measurement, automation, and control […]

Tek-Flux 1400B Insertion Electromagnetic Flow Meter-Low Cost, Flexible and Reliable Flow Meter

One of the key advantages of the Tek-Flux 1400B Insertion-Style Electromagnetic meters is the ease of installation at a very attractive price. The insertion meters offer a convenient, low-cost answer for flow measurement for temporary or permanent installations. The time and cost associated with installing an inline mag meters may not always be a practical or economic proposition for installation where shutdowns are unavoidable, and this can easily overcome using insertion type flow meters, which offers the same accuracies and other benefits offered by conventional full-bore meters. The Tek-Trol Tek-Flux 1400B Insertion Electromagnetic Flow Meters used to measure the flow rate of conductive liquids and functions according to the fundamental principle of Faraday’s law of Electromagnetic Induction which describes the relationship between an electrical conductor and the voltage it generates when moving within a magnetic field. There Tek-Flux 1400B comprises an electromagnetic sensing head mounted on the end of a support rod. The sensing head can install in existing pipelines without the need for any major modifications to pipe work as associated with full-bore meters. They can be installed without shutting down the process and unlike the inline magnetic meters, they can be removed easily for periodic calibration or inspection. The Tek-Flux 1400B is available with integral or remote display options and with special blowout preventers for hot-tap installation where additional safety is required when installing in online conditions. Applications for the Tek-Flux 1400B include Municipal Water, Water Distribution, Pumping Stations, Filter Balancing and Backwash, Reclaim Water, Treated Water, Irrigation […]
