Biogas Measurement

Differential Pressure Flow Measurement As global oil prices remain high, countries around the globe are seeking renewable energy sources to increase energy efficiency and security. Among the sources of renewable energy is the production of biogas from landfill gas (LFG). To monetize biogas and create the most efficient fuel sources, it is critical to accurately measure how much biogas is produced in each stage of the process. This biogas boom has created an opportunity for industrial gas measurement companiesMany flow measurement companies with varying technologies are interested in measuring the biogas as it leaves the landfill, but precise biogas measurement is an inherently challenging application with its changing gas composition, low pressure and dirty, wet gas that can clog up devices like annubars, orifice plates, turbine meters, thermal mass meter and other similar instruments. The Tek-DPro 1620A Smart Cone Meter has proven itself as the leading measurement technology for this challenging application Features High turn down Low pre mediate pressure loss Not affected by wet gas Minimal straight run piping requirements Compact package, eliminating piping, flow conditioners, flow computers and multiple transmitters

Biogas Measurement and RIN Credits

The biogas industry is keenly focused on economic opportunities resulting from the generation of upgraded biogas to renewable fuel and its attached environmental credits, called RINs, or Renewable Identification Numbers. Congress created the renewable fuel standard (RFS) program, which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency implements under consultation with the U.S. Department of Energy, to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and expand the nation’s renewable fuels sector while reducing reliance on imported oil. This program was authorized under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and expanded, often called the RFS2, under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.Generally, the gas that is emitted from a waste site contains various un-processed products besides methane such as carbon dioxide (C02), nitrogen (N2), Water (H2O) and Oxygen (O2). Several technologies have been uses to measure the Biogas from landfills with varying success. Thewetness of the gas, low pressure and space restraints have posed a challenge. The Tek-DPro 1620ASmart Cone Meter has proven itself as the leading measurement technology for this challengingapplication. Features High turn down. Low pre-mediate pressure loss. Not affected by wet gas. Minimal straight run piping requirements. Compact package, eliminating piping, flow conditioners, flow computers and multiple transmitters.

Measuring the Quality and Quantity of Wet Steam

Measuring the quality and quantity of wet steam, saturated steam and superheated steam! Tek-Flo Mass 1300D Steam Quality Meter is the only meter with two proven technologies (Cone and Vortex) thatprovides accurate steam and steam quality measurement. The meter produces a reliable steam quality (dryness)measurement and steam mass flow rate reading in saturated steam services. Can provide a measurement of fluid density, volumetric flow rate and mass flow rate without any fluid information being requiredfrom an external source. In steam service, the meter is able to provide a reliable steamquality (steam dryness) measurement as well as mass flowmeasurement. Able to calculate the density of changing gas mixtures. For example, natural gas is typically a composition of many different gases which can vary over time and vary by application. More cost effective than current steam quality and wet gas meters on the market. Advanced diagnostic software is able to continually monitor and verify the meter’s primary flow element health and confirm output uncertainty. Able to use with liquids, gases, and steam. Additionally, multiple readings from a single installed device reduces initial cost, installation cost and cost-of ownership over the lifetime of the instrument.
